Prayer: The Hindu Dharma Samudaya of Bhutan (HDSB) is organising a special prayer ceremony for HRH The Gyalsey’s good health and long life at the Hindu temple in Motithang, Thimphu.
The puja ceremony coincides with the auspicious occasion of Shri Ram Navami, a Hindu festival, celebrating the birth of Lord Rama to king Dasharatha and queen Kausalya in Ayodhya. The prayer ceremony is also organized to celebrate the 400th year of the arrival of Zhabdrung in Bhutan.
Normally, the Shri Ram Navami prayer is organised for one day. However, HDSB officials said the prayer ceremony was extended to three days to celebrate the two other national events.
The programme, which started on Thursday, will conclude today.
Brahmins are reciting religious texts and chanting prayers. The HDSB is also holding Bhajan and Sankritan (devotional songs) as part of the prayer ceremony.
Members of the Hindu community are taking part in the ceremony.
