Tandin Wangchuk defeated Om Pariyar of Nepal on the first day of the Asian Juniors boxing championship (ASBC) 2017 in the flyweight category held at Puerto Princesa in the Philippines on August 2.

In the preliminary round, the fight is played for six minutes in three rounds.

Tandin Wangchuk, who weighs 50 kgs who appeared in the ring in blue went for the attack since the first round.  His fast strikes and movements made the situation difficult for his opponent while the second round was filled with several exchanges of punches and blocks.

In the final round of the fight, Tandin Wanghuck came up strong defeating his opponent with more punches to take over the win in the preliminary round of Asian championship 2017. He won the match scoring 5:0 in a unanimous decision.  He is playing Uzbekistan today.

Four boxers from Bhutan Boxing Federation are representing Bhutan in week-long championship held in Philippines.

Leki Wangchuk who weighs 52 kilograms fell in the light Bantam weight category. He could not qualify for the next round of championship after he lost 4:1 to his opponent from Kazakhstan . Rada Wangchuk and Migma Dorji are in the quarter final round of the championship in Bantam weight category and pin weight category.
