Parents should teach and inculcate the values of farming, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay told the people of Saling gewog during his recent visit to Mongar.

Lyonchhen said that when children are in schools, parents should check on their studies and when home, they should be responsible for teaching them about farming and culture and to instill discipline from a young age.

“If you teach your children and instill discipline every day, your children will study well and grow into good adults who would serve their parents, the Tsawa-sum and benefit themselves,” the prime minister said.

However, if children are not disciplined from an early age, he told the people that children could get into trouble and come in conflict with law. The prime minister also said that until 2016, summer break was for two weeks.

Starting this year, the break has been extended to a month so that children have time to help parents in the farms.
