To support eco-friendly tourism through development of infrastructure, Bhutan Trust Fund for Environment Conservation (BTFEC) signed 10 grant agreements worth Nu 78.13M (million) on June 29 with the Gross National Happiness Commission, Communities and Civil Societies Organisations.

The 10 projects are – white bellied heron recovery plan, rehabilitation of luetshokha tsho (lake), exploration of the unique bio-diversity of Bhutan, up-scaling sustainable land management to combat land degradation and climate change, and improve rural livelihood from non-wood forest products.

Further the projects include establishing a liter free society and advocating behavioral change and introducing glue laminated timber technology among others.

With the 10 new projects, which will be implemented from this month, BFTEC has 43 ongoing projects with allocated funds of Nu 358.76M.
