Diplomacy: Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen granted an audience to the outgoing Ambassador of Thailand to Bhutan Ms. Madurapochana Ittarong, yesterday.

The ambassador was on a farewell trip to Bhutan.

Ambassador, Madurapochana Ittarong also called on Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang on Tuesday.

Lyonchoen thanked her for overseeing the strengthening of the relationship between Bhutan and Thailand, and conveyed that the friendship between the two countries have enjoyed tremendous success during the Ambassador’s tenure.

Lyonchoen extended his appreciation on the progress and development of Thailand and added that Bhutan has benefitted a lot from Thailand in terms of education scholarships, trade opportunities and tourism activities.

He said that the similar cultural values and heritage shared by the people of the two countries have to be cherished for all times to come.

Ambassador Ittarong said that she was privileged to be a part of the excellent ties between Bhutan and Thailand and thanked lyonchoen for the cooperation extended to her during her stay in Bhutan.

Bhutan and Thailand have enjoyed warm and friendly relations, predating the establishment of formal diplomatic relations in 1989.
