The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, General Prayut Chan-o-cha (Retd) arrives in the country today.

He is on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and is accompanied by his spouse, Associate professor Naraporn Chan-o-cha, Thailand foreign minister Don Pramudwinai and other senior officials of the Thai government.

The visit is taking place in the tradition of regular exchange of high-level visits between the two countries, a press release from the foreign ministry stated.

This is General Prayut Chan-o-cha’s first official visit to Bhutan.

The prime minister will receive an audience with His Majesty The King.

The official visit of the prime minister marks an important milestone in the close and friendly relations between the two kingdoms. The visit provides impetus to the strong ties of friendship, goodwill between the Royal Families, governments, leaders, and the peoples of the two kingdoms, a press release from the foreign ministry stated.

Thailand and Bhutan enjoy warm and cordial relations. The two kingdoms established diplomatic relations in November 1989.
