The celebration of our beloved Druk Gyalpo’s 38th Birth Anniversary provides an opportunity for the Bhutanese to pray and wish for His Majesty’s good health, well-being and long life. It is also an opportune time for every Bhutanese to thank His Majesty The Druk Gyalpo for His compassion and kindness, leadership and inspiration, and hard work and service to the people.
The country has achieved unprecedented progress under the reign of His Majesty. The peace, stability and prosperity that the Bhutanese are continuing to enjoy emanates from the unwavering love and care bestowed by His Majesty. Our nascent democracy continues to deepen and take root with precious guidance and constant nurturing of the appointed and elected leaders of their sacred responsibility to serve Drukyul and the Bhutanese.
As excitements and expectations build up for the third general elections, it may be important for us to recollect the words of wisdom His Majesty shared in many of His profound addresses. To quote one from the National Day address: “Democracy is a timeless process in our collective endeavor to build a peaceful and prosperous nation. Democracy is the foundation of peace and tranquility, and the source of shared values for well-being and happiness. It is also the life-force of national governance.”
It is also a good time for those aspiring to serve in the public offices in 2018 and all voters to be reminded of the great responsibility and role that they have in nation building. In 2007, His Majesty said: “Individual success depends on success as a nation – no one succeeds when the nation has failed. There can be no Bhutanese without Bhutan. This is the fundamental truth for a small country like ours.”
We take this opportunity to offer our prayers for the good health and happiness of His Majesty The Druk Gyalpo, Her Majesty The Gyeltsuen, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, and HRH The Gyalsey.
May the people continue to enjoy peace, security and prosperity in the Kingdom of Pelden Drukpa under the guidance of His Majesty The Druk Gyalpo.
