Royal visit: Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hiked up to Taktshang monastery yesterday.

The Duke and Duchess took 40 minutes to reach the mid way point up to Taktshang base camp.

The Duke told reporters who were waiting for a photo opportunity at the resting point that the walk had been easy.

While horses were arranged for the Royal Couple, the Duke and Duchess chose not to ride.

The Royal Couple stopped for few minutes after posing for photographs then headed towards the monastery led by the director of the National Museum, Khenpo Phuntshok Tashi.

HRH Prince of Wales followed the same trail when he visited Bhutan in 1998 but chose not to walk all the way up to the monastery.

The Royal Couple took three hours to hike up to Taktshang monastery in Paro.

Their Royal Highnesses conclude their two-day visit to Bhutan and move onto Agra to visit the Taj Mahal.
