City 3-2 Paro United

Thimphu City FC routed Paro United FC in both the home and away matches in the ongoing BoB Bhutan Premier League (BPL).

City defeated Paro United 3-2 in the second round of the BPL at the Changlimithang Stadium yesterday. 

The second leg of the BPL began on October 21. Of the 56 matches, fives have been completed as of yesterday. 

City is leading the league with 25 points, followed by Ugyen Academy FC with the 22 points. 

City has played nine matches and Ugyen Academy is yet to play its ninth game. 

Paro United scored in 14th minutes through striker Kinzang Chophel. However, city’s defender, Mipham Chophel, equalised in 29th minute. 

The first half ended 1-1. 

Next half of the match was a disgrace for the Paro United as they conceded two more goals. 

Thimphu City’s skipper and a mid-fielder, Tshering Dorji, netted the second for the club three minutes into the second half, followed by his brace in 54th minute. However, Paro United’s Kinzang Chophel scored one in 62nd minute.

Tshering Dorji played a critical role in the match against Paro United. 

In the earlier match, City defeated Paro United 2-1 with the last-minute goal by Tshering Dorji. 

Meanwhile, Transport United FC defeated High Quality United FC 1-0 on October 24 at the Changlimithang Stadium. 

On October 23, Paro FC humbled Tensung FC 5-1 at the Woochu Sports Arena in Paro. Paro won both home and away matches against Tensung.   

Tensung FC enjoyed an early lead in 14th minutes through midfielder Gaki Penjor.

However, Paro FC responded with an equaliser six minutes later. Striker Kabi Raj Rai scored with an assist from defender Chencho. In the 40th minute, Kabi Raj Rai scored again.  

Even without Chencho Gyeltshen, the next half of the game saw complete domination by the Paro FC in their home ground with three more goals. Kabi Raj Rai scored his hat-trick in 61st minute, taking the score 3-1, followed by Dinesh Gurung’s in 81st minute and Sonam Tshering Dorji’s in the dying minutes. 

“It was a tough match but our team worked hard and got all the three points. I am happy that I scored my first hat-trick in this tournament,” said Kabi Raj Rai.

Paro thrashed Tensung 5-0 at MTC ground in Wangdue in the first round on September 27. So far, Paro acquired 15 points and stands third place in the league table. 

City defeated Druk Stars FC 1-0 on October 21. Ugyen Academy FC stunned Paro United FC 2-1 on October 22. 

Druk Stars will play Ugyen Academy at Changlimithang on October 27.
