Crime: Damphu police have charged two men for gang rape and a third for rape of a minor to the Tsirang court yesterday.

The incident was reported to police on December 12, last year by the girl’s uncle after he discovered that the 14-year-old girl was impregnated. She was in a relation with a 16 year-old-boy from Menchuna in Tsirang.

The boy confessed to police that they were in a relation since August last year. He also confessed to having physical relation with the girl at his place. However, the suspect left for Trongsa in September to stay with his sister and never returned. He also didn’t contact her.

The victim in her statement told police that she had slept with two other men both aged 23 who were working as sales boy at Damphu town. Both of them confessed to sleeping with her and engaging in physical relation with her consent.

One of them told police, in his statement, that they first met in July last year at Damphu town where the victim was working as a sales girl. “We had an appointment to meet and she agreed to go to our place that night,” he told police.

“With her consent, all three of us slept in the same bed and had sex,” stated the statement to police.

Damphu hospital confirmed the girl was pregnant.
