The two eastern most dzongkhags, Trashiyangtse and Trashigang imposed lockdown from 6am yesterday.
The dzongkhags have identified shops, that will remain open during the lockdown, in all the zones. Residents are permitted to move out of their homes within their respective zones.
The dzongkhag taskforce members will ensure uninterrupted supply of essential items and services to the people.
Trashiyangtse Dzongdag, Thuji Tshering said that people would be allowed to buy essential items but must follow the timing strictly. “There has not been any problem so far.”
The task force members have sent notifications to gewog leaders to monitor and provide services to the people.
“We also asked local leaders and volunteers to report domestic violence cases in the communities,” said Thuji Tshering.
Trashigang Dzongdag, Chekey Gyeltshen said that people were allowed to move within the gewogs and respective zones in town. “There is no system of delivering essential items. People can buy from identified shops following specific timing.”
The dzongkhag Covid-19 taskforce members, he said, decided to enforce lockdown by early morning.
In Trashigang all construction activities are suspended until further notice. Inter-gewog movement is also restricted except for emergencies like death and medical cases.
Trashiyangtse has traced 400 individuals who had returned from Thimphu. Trashigang has so far traced and tested 698 people who had returned from Thimphu recently.
No positive case has been reported.
