The Menchu swimming pool at Godi between Trashigang town and Rangjung is a happening place.

The pool is located about six kilometres from Trashigang town and about 20 km from Rangjung town. The pool is eight metres long and four metres wide for adults.

There is another one for children which is five metres long and four metres wide.

Pema comes from Kanglung to take a dip and swim. “We come with family. Even Children can have fun. Summer in Trashigang is hot and such facilities really help us cool down.”

Sonam Wangmo, a resident of Trashigang, said, “We are happy that we finally have a recreational facility like this.”

The owner of the pools, Tshering Phuntsho, said that he invested more than Nu 3 million to build the pools.  “This is my dream project. After tourism was badly affected by Covid-19, I went ahead to open a pool.”

Most of his customers are children. Tshering Phuntsho cleans the pools regularly. “Safety is very important.”

Adults pay Nu 200 for one hour; children pay half the price adults pay for an hour’s swim in the pool. “I aim for absolute customer satisfaction.”

Before swimmers take a dive, Tshering Phuntsho instructs his customers about the dos and don’ts.

“Soon we will have professional trainers,” said Tshering Phuntsho. “I also want to provide transport services to customers who are coming from far away.”
