With six positive cases recorded in the last three days, Covid-19 task force of Trongsa dzongkhag conducted a virtual meeting with local leaders, regional and sector heads, including representative from dratshang to discuss the way forward.

The dzongkhag reported the first case from a family on March 8. Two primary contacts of the earlier index case tested positive in Tangsibji gewog on March 9. A frontliner also tested positive that day.

In the virtual meeting, the incident commander Phub Rinzin, urged participants to advocate villagers and staff in their respective areas to strictly comply and adhere to the Covid-19 protocols.




He stressed the importance of how everyone should take responsibility to take care of oneself and stay away from the disease.

Dzongdag Phub Rinzin also said there are limited facilities to quarantine contacts and isolate infected individuals in the dzongkhag and asked participants to plan for isolation facilities and take care of elderly, children and people with comorbidities if more cases emerge.

Participants discussed arranging isolation and quarantine facilities in the gewogs.

Meanwhile, an individual from the town tested positive on antigen yesterday and his sample was sent for RT-PCR for confirmation.

Another man also tested positive on antigen towards the evening yesterday. His sample will be sent to RT-PCR today.

Contact tracing of primary contacts are ongoing and seven individuals identified as primary contacts of the two women who tested positive were sent for RT-PCR.
