Table Tennis: A total of 69 individuals are taking part in the ongoing Funakoshi table tennis tournament at Chubachu in Thimphu.

The annual event that is being organized by Bhutan Table Tennis Federation (BTF) to promote table tennis in the country began on January 16.

Assistance coach Dala Thinley said that tournament this year has attracted large number of participants.

Best players will be picked from the tournament and awarded academic scholarships to study in the colleges within the country.

Last year’s finalist, Namgay Dorji, who won a scholarship to continue his studies at Royal Thimphu College, is also taking part in the tournament. Namgay Dorji represented the country in a couple of international tournaments last year.

The tournament will end on January 24.
