Two rivers, Pachhu and Nyechhu in Phuentsholing gewog, Chukha, would be connected with bridges before the summer of 2018.

Once complete, these bridges would link Lingden in Phuentsholing gewog and Chimuna in Logchina gewog.

A 90-feet Bailey bridge over Neychhu will connect Lingden, a village that remains disconnected when the river swells in summer. A Chukha based construction company, D Lhen Private Limited, has been awarded the job.

The proprietor of the company, Damcho Tshering, said that their part of the works has already been completed.

“We are waiting for the Construction Development Corporation Limited (CDCL) to do the launching works,” he said.

Damcho Tshering said the CDCL team would arrive today. “It would take about a week to finish the launching works.”

Phuentsholing gewog gup Birkha Bahadur Rai said that about Nu 7 million (M) was allotted from the gewog budget in the 11th Plan.

“Lingden residents will benefit immensely from this bridge,” the gup said. “The primary school would benefit the most.”

The bridge over Pachhu would connect seven villages in Phuentsholing gewog and a village of Logchina. The construction of the 150-feet Bailey bridge is in full swing.

Phuentsholing gup Birkha Bahadur Rai said that the current bridge construction material is a completely new package as the previous material was damaged by Amochhu flood in 2016.

“The construction would also complete before the summer,” he said.

Birkha Bahadur Rai said that the initial duration of nine months was awarded to the construction firm, which was later extended.

Meanwhile, wooden planks have been used as a bridge and only light vehicles are allowed to ply over it currently.
