Accident: Two men died in Dhur, Chokhor gewog in Bumthang after a tree fell on them on the night of August 14.

The two deceased, aged 27 and 41, were sleeping in the forest called Rabtentse with two others when the incident occurred.  The other two sustained minor injuries.

The area is a three-hour walk from Menchunang. It is said that the four men, three from Dhur and one from Chokhortoe were in the forest to collect bamboo.

Sources said the four men had made a fire on the trunk of a large tree to cook their dinner. The tree fell when the fire burnt through the trunk. The men were sleeping when the tree fell.

“The two who were sleeping in the middle were killed when the two sleeping on their sides escaped,” an official said.
