The weekend between Thimphu City FC and Ugyen Academy FC, both riding on their first match win,  ended in a 1-1 draw at the Changlimithang stadium yesterday.

Thimphu City FC despite the home ground advantage trailed until the last five minutes of the match after the visitors scored through Dilip Mongar in the 59th minute.

City skipper, Tshering Dorji rose to the occasion yet again to equalise for the Cityzens in the 86th minute and earn a point.

Ugyen Academy FC with the draw rises to the top of the league table with a single goal lead in goal difference.

Meanwhile, the defending champions Paro FC (PFC) dropped three points after losing to Transport United FC 2-1 on August 8 at the Woochu Sports Arena in Paro.

TUFC’s forward Jigdrel Wangchuk broke the deadlock four minutes into the second half. Paro FC’s striker Chencho Gyeltshen equalised in the 68th minute.

The match was heading for a draw when in the 86th minute, TUFC’s Chimi Dorji scored a free-kick and sealed off the match 2-1.

Paro FC fired seven shots and 6 corner kicks against TUFC’s 6 shots and a single corner kick.

High Quality United FC will play Paro United FC tomorrow at the Changlimithang Stadium.
