The sequencing batch reactor waste water treatment plant, which would replace the existing wastewater stabilisation pond in Babesa, Thimphu is expected to commission in May next year. The construction of the plant with a capacity of 12 million liter a day (MLD) started in 2016 as the existing pond had exceeded its capacity of 1.75 MLD.
