Thimphu police caught a 25-year-old man from the town yesterday evening for allegedly stabbing a 24-year-old woman on November 20.

The incident occurred around 12:50pm at the Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) office in Changangkha, where the woman works.

Police said a woman called them saying a man stabbed her friend and that she was being taken to the hospital.

Police found that the victim was admitted in the emergency unit because of excessive bleeding but was in stable condition and discharged the same day.

While investigating the case, police found that the suspect, a 25-year-old man from Punakha, came to DNT’s office and stabbed on the victim’s right groin region.

“It was learnt that the suspect ran away after stabbing and the victim was with her friend having lunch in the office during the incident,” a police official said.

Police officials said that the suspect claimed to be the victim’s ex-boyfriend and the case is under investigation.
