She was reported to have gone missing

Police in Gelephu arrested a man for allegedly murdering his wife  and dumping her body in a septic tank three years ago in Changangkha, Thimphu.

While Kuensel could not get details from police, sources said the man, who worked as the caretaker in Changangkha, had reported to police that his wife went missing and even alleged that she eloped to Nepal with a boyfriend.




Sources said the woman, in her 30s, is a mother of two and she had been a victim of domestic violence.

It was learnt that the woman’s body was found on February 23 when thromde was called to clean the blocked septic tank.

The man was arrested in Gelephu on the same day and sent to Thimphu for investigation.

Sources said the man confessed to police about the crime, but claimed that she died after he pushed her in a fight.
