Zhemgang to date nominated four nominees from Nangkor, Phangkhar, Goshing and Nangla gewogs during the dhamngoi zomdu, which began on February 28.

Nangkor gewog nominated its lone candidate, a former teacher, Sonam Leki, 38, as their nominee. He secured 346 yes votes and 32 no votes.

Winning a nomination against his former opponent with 180 votes, Dorji Cheten, 38, has been nominated as Phangkhar gewog’s candidate.

In the 2013 dhamngoi zomdu, Dorji Cheten had lost to Ugyen Chophel. This time he was nominated over Ugyen Chophel. Dorji Cheten last worked with Karma Group.

Goshing gewog nominated a 57-year-old former civil servant, Sangay Dorji, as its nominee. He secured 265 yes votes and 126 no votes. In 2008 and 2013, he contested as a candidate of People Democratic Party from Panbang constituency.

Rinchen is the nominee of Ngangla gewog. The 51-year-old former civil servant secured 253 yes votes and 53 no votes.

The dhamngoi zomdu will end on March 15. The zomdus for remaining gewogs of Bardo, Trong, Shingkhar and Bjokha are under way.
