His Holiness the Je Khenpo conferred ceremonial scarves to three lopons of the Zhung Dratshang (Central Monk Body) appointing them as Tsugla Lopon, Yonten Lopon and Gaytsho Lopon at Pungthang Dewa Chhenpoi Phodrang earlier this morning.
The former Lam Neten of Trashigang Rabdey, Karma Rangdrol, is the new Tsugla Lopon and Trulku Namgyel, who was the former Gaytsho Lopon, is appointed as Yonten Lopon. The Tsugla Lopon is responsible for the activities pertaining to the study and contemplation of the scriptural traditions along with five sciences, while the Yonten Lopon is incharge of religious activities like practicing and learning of all categories of Vajrayanan rituals and mudras.
Lopon Tenzin Norbu is the new Gaytsho Lopon responsible to preside over the cremation rituals at Thimphu durthroe.
