The Samdrupjongkhar Covid-19 Task Force declared the Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) colony and office premises  “Yellow Zone” beginning yesterday.

The first community Covid-19 positive case was detected from the RBP colony on May 3.

No entry to and exit of any individual form the colony is permitted. The people  in the colony are also not allowed to visit the neighbours until further notice.

The notification states that all the symptomatic patients would be tested for Covid-19 at the flu clinic within the RBP colony. Essential items will be delivered until the gate by the individuals in the proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

A total of nine positive cases have been detected from the RBP colony and office premises so far.

Identified industries and institutions in Samdrupjongkhar town till Pinchina checkpoint will operate in a self-containment mode until further notice.

According to the notification, this is to help in containing the spread of covid-19 in the community and avoid the inter-zone movements.

Emergency services will be available and identified shops will deliver the essential items and vegetables to the zones.

“No movement cards would be issued to the people staying in the self-containment zone,” the notification stated, adding that people should wear a face mask, maintain social distance, and wash hands frequently.

The identified industries and institutions are State Mining Corporation, East Bhutan Private Limited, SD Eastern Bhutan Ferro Silicon Pvt Ltd, Bhutan Oil Distributor, Druk petroleum, Bhutan Telecom and Tashi InfoComm, cable operators, Bhutan Power Corporation, Food Corporation of Bhutan, all the financial institutions and industries at Phuentsho Rabtenling.
