Paro police charged 26 people for breaching lockdown protocol to the dzongkhag court yesterday.

The 23 men and three women were charged for violating public order and tranquillity in eight different cases during the second nationwide lockdown.

They allegedly breached section 448 of the Penal Code of Bhutan, which states a defendant shall be guilty of the offence of breach of public order and tranquillity if the defendant purposely fails to abide by the orders of the government issued in the interest of public safety, public order and tranquillity.

Six men were found playing archery, four playing cards, and others for selling alcohol late into the night without a licence.

Police said that some of them were found roaming around in villages.

Meanwhile, police will charge a man, who escaped quarantine centre earlier this year after he completes his quarantine period.
