In a significant move toward gender inclusivity, Bhutan Tendrel Party (BTP) has declared its candidate for the Kengkhar-Weringla constituency in Mongar, and it is a woman.
Dorji Wangmo, 46, from Gongdu, has been chosen to represent the party in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Dorji Wangmo holds a master’s degree in Management from the University of Canberra, Australia. Prior to joining BTP, she also contested in the 2023 National Council elections, demonstrating her commitment to public service and political engagement.
She began her professional career at the Natural Resources Development Corporation Limited (NRDCL) as a personnel officer. Over the years, she worked her way up the ranks, serving as an administrative officer, company secretary, and eventually becoming a general manager.
In her role as general manager for the Mineral Resource Division, she took on the responsibility of overseeing, planning, coordinating, and monitoring the extraction and production of sand and stone. Additionally, she ensured the prudent and sustainable use of national resources, a crucial aspect of her work.
Having dedicated nearly 22 years to the NRDCL, Dorji Wangmo brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her candidacy.
BTP is currently engaging with people from all gewogs across the country, introducing the party and its vision to the public. This outreach serves as a platform to connect with the electorate and communicate the party’s policies and goals.
With this announcement, BTP has declared a total of 32 candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections, including two women candidates.
