Continuing the campaign for 2023 General Election, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) pledged a robust economy brought about by a highly developed transport and communication network among the Southern districts, and connected further with Eastern and Western dzongkhags.

Speaking to the people of Sarpang, the PDP’s Party President, Tshering Tobgay said, the proposed road will link  Sarpang with Jomotshangkha, Dewathang, Nganglam, and Panbang. Towards the west, the road will connect Phuentsholing, and Samtse.

The benefit of the road connectivity will enhance movement of people and goods and manifest in increased people-to-people connectivity, and better business opportunities, and increased earnings, said Tshering Tobgay.

Other pledges included a double-lane road between Tsirang and Sarpang, and dry ports in Gelephu and Sarpang.

Reflecting on the previous term, Tshering Tobgay said that PDP government had started the construction of the east-west road from the north, and if they were able to form the government this election, they would build the road linking the southern part of the country.

“It is my responsibility to support you with whatever I can if PDP forms the government,” said Tshering Tobgay, while expressing gratitude for the support from the people of Sarpang that resulted in a victory during the primary election.

PDP’s candidates representing the district, Tek Bahadur Rai, and Harka Singh Tamang won the primary election. The party is further urging people to he asked the people to support the party that can solve the current crisis and can benefit the people.

According to Tshering Tobgay, the ministerial candidates will not be revealed during the campaign, and would instead focus on presenting the party manifesto and convince the people.

PDP concluded its campaign in Sarpang with the last meeting yesterday at Sershong.
