Bhutanese travelling to Dubai can now take a direct flight.

Drukair officially launched its new twice-weekly flights to Dubai yesterday, a significant expansion of the airline’s international network.

The inaugural flight was graced by His Royal Highness Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

This new route enhances global connectivity, facilitating travel for passengers from the Middle East and beyond. It will also play a pivotal role in promoting tourism, trade, and diplomatic relations between Bhutan and the United Arab Emirates.

Flights from Paro to Dubai are scheduled twice a week, with services departing from Dubai on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 4:00 AM. After a stopover in Delhi, the flight arrives in Paro at 11:40 AM.

The flights from Paro will depart on Mondays and Fridays at 8:00 AM, reaching Delhi by 10:00 AM, and then continuing on to Dubai, arriving at 1:40 PM, according to Bhutan Standard Time.

The CEO of Drukair, Tandi Wangchuk, said that the flight to Dubai reflects Drukair’s expanding international presence and dedication to connecting Bhutan to the world. “Dubai represents a key international hub—a gateway that will connect Bhutan to the Middle East and beyond, offering a seamless transit point for Bhutanese travellers, as well as providing easier access for global tourists and business visitors.”

The new Dubai route is expected to open up Gelephu Mindfulness City to international markets and visitors, further boosting Bhutan’s appeal as a travel destination.

The Prime Minister, in his social media pages, wrote, “this new connection promises to promote tourism and strengthen people-to-people bonds beyond borders.”

Drukair also shared that they are offering a 20 percent promotional fare discount with the promo code ‘DUBAI20’ till February 28, 2025.

To encourage international visitors to explore the beauty of Bhutan, a special discount for foreign travellers will also be offered during the shoulder period.

Currently, Drukair operates scheduled flights to 10 international destinations across five countries from its hub at Paro International Airport.
