Woman drowns in Mochhu

A 41-year-old woman from Wangkha village in Punakha drowned in the Mochhu on November 28.

The incident occurred at around 12:55pm, when she went to wash clothes near the river. It is suspected that the deceased might have suffered an epileptic attack at the time of the incident and slipped into the river.

The search team found her body 30 minutes after the incident was reported.

Vehicle accident kills one

A 30-year-old man died in a motor accident in Thimphu on November 28. The incident happened between Taba and Langjophakha at around 10:55pm.

The Maruti car veered off the road and fell 350 feet. A passerby reported the incident to police.

A police team searched the accident area for a possible passenger after the deceased was evacuated. The search team has determined that no passenger was travelling with the deceased.

The deceased died on the way to the hospital.

Police suspect drink driving and loss of control as the contributing factors.
