The Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Bhutan, His Excellency Adel Hussain Al Jassam, presented his credentials to His Majesty The King at the Tashichhodzong on February 3.

Diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Kuwait were established in 1983 with the opening of the Bhutanese Consulate General in Kuwait, which was upgraded to a Resident Embassy in Kuwait City in 1986. The Resident Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Thimphu was established in 2010. Bhutan and Kuwait enjoy very cordial and warm bilateral relations and friendship guided by the relationship between the Royal Families of the two countries. There has also been regular exchange of high-level dignitaries’ visits between the two countries. In addition, in the last decade, several hundreds of Bhutanese have joined the Kuwait’s workforce mainly in the hospitality and retail service sectors.
