RoundGlass Punjab FC defeated Indian Arrows 2-1 in the ongoing Hero-I league at Kalyani Stadium in Kolkata yesterday.

This is the third win for Chencho Gyeltshen’s RoundGlass Punjab FC. With 11 points from seven games, the club is currently in  second position in the league, two points behind Churchill Brothers.

Following his brilliant performance against TRAU FC last week, Chencho Gyeltshen was looking for his fifth goal of the season with an acrobatic attempt in the 16th minute of the game. The shot however, was intercepted by the opponent’s defender.

RoundGlass’s first goal came in the 35th minute from striker Papa Babacar Diawara. The Senegal international was assisted by Samad Ali Mallick.

Just like in the first half, RoundGlass maintained their dominance for the remaining part of the match. Diawara scored his second in the 56th minute following a cross from mid-fielder Joseba Beitia, which Chencho assisted.

The Indian Arrows fought back in the dying minutes of the match with Vellington Fernandes scoring in the 87th minute.

Chencho’s contribution in the season so far has been remarkable. He scored two goals each against TRAU FC and Gokulum Kerala FC. He is a goal short from levelling up with Churchill Brother’s Clayvin Zuniga, who has scored five goals so far, the highest in the tournament.

Meanwhile, this was the seventh time the two teams faced each other in the Hero-I league. RoundGlass has an extra win over Indian Arrows who are in the relegation this season.
