Some of the brightest and most creative minds from across the world will convene in Bhutan for the Annual Drukyul’s Literature Festival under the theme “Reconnecting and Reviving” between August 4 and 6.

The festival is an independently-organised not-for-profit event that is free and open to all.

At Drukyul’s Literature Festival (DLF) 2023, visitors will have the opportunity to engage intimately with an amazing lineup of speakers and have their books signed by their favourite authors. This is an event for those interested in nuanced views and experiences on topics that transcend cultures promoting deeper insights and broader perspectives.

This year’s festival headliners are notable talents. These include Ashi Kunzang Choden Roder (children’s author); French artist Benjamin Flouw known for his warmly-illustrated children’s books on nature; Binod Chaudhary, the author of Making it Big; and Indian author Vikas Swarup, among others.

Past festival directors and producers Namita Gokhale, Mita Kapur, and Pramod KG will also join to share anecdotes and highlights from the previous festivals.

As one of Bhutan’s only literature and contemporary culture festivals, DLF’s distinctive blend of international and local perspectives creates a unique platform for cross-cultural dialogue and creative exchange, according to a press release from the DLF organisers.

It brings together the world’s most renowned literary and art icons, while also showcasing the creative talents of our very own Bhutanese writers and artists.

Drukyul’s Literature Festival is an annual celebration of literature and arts in Bhutan, under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck.

The participants can expect to get books signed, and participate in hands-on workshops on creative writing and illustrating, among others.

This year, the 12th edition of the literature festival will take place in the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) hall in Thimphu.
