A 12-day Para Sports Camp aimed at introducing and fostering the development of Para sports will begin in Thimphu on January 15.

The camp will serve as a platform to showcase five exciting para-sports disciplines that include para-archery, athletics, badminton, shooting, and table tennis.

This will provide individuals with disabilities an opportunity to explore their athletic potential in an inclusive and engaging environment.

The initiative will identify and nurture talented individuals with disabilities who have the potential to represent Bhutan on the international stage. The selected participants will undergo specialised training and have the chance to be a part of the national Para sports team.

Secretary General at the BPC, Sonam Karma Tshering, said that the Para Sports Camp is a significant step forward in BPC’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and creating opportunities for people with disabilities in the field of sports.

“We believe that everyone, regardless of ability, should have the chance to experience the joy of sports, and this camp is a testament to that belief,” he said.

BPC stated that it recognises the transformative power of sports in building confidence, instilling discipline, and promoting overall well-being. The participants and organisers alike are eagerly anticipating the camp, which promises not only to introduce new sporting experiences but also to create a supportive community for individuals with disabilities.
