Bhutan Tendrel Party declared Ugyen as the candidate of Athang-Thedtsho constituency in Wangduephodrang to contest for the fourth parliamentary elections.

The 48-year-old has a Bachelors’ Degree in Animal Science from the College of Natural Resources in Lobesa and a certificate in Tropical Animal Production from Thailand and International Diploma in Dairy Technology from The Netherlands. 

He worked in the civil service for 25 years, the party stated. 

Prior to joining politics, he was the Chief Dzongkhag Livestock Officer of Wangduephodrang. 

Ugyen also worked in the Department of Livestock headquarter from 2004 to 2009. He also contested in the recent National Council elections. He is married and has two children.

So far, the party has declared 42 candidates to contest in the upcoming elections.

The party stated that they have confirmed all 47 candidates and the remaining candidates who are not yet declared are in the process of tendering their resignations.
