Campaigns by presidents of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa, Druk Phuensum Tshogpa and People’s Democratic Party in Bumthang have set the election mood in Bumthang.

The common forum also ended yesterday in Tang gewog. Chamkhar town development is on the agenda of all four parties and candidates. 

As the postal ballot facilitation booth sealed it operation on September 9, Bumthang saw 2,216 of the 2,474 registered facilitation booth voters turning up to cast their ballots. Bumthang saw a voter turn out of 89.6 percent.

Of the three mobile facilitation booths in Chhoekhor gewog, two booths designated for highlanders in Gomthang and Lamthrang saw 100 percent turnout. The other in Tsampa saw 88.33 percent turn out.

The facilitation booth in Chhumig Central School saw 244 male and 221 female cast their ballots, resulting in 91.5 percent turnout. Another facilitation booth in Wangduechholing saw 88.9 percent turn out with 854 female and 812 male casting their ballots.

The election officials said they had to call and remind people to come and cast their votes because some were still not aware. 

The election officer said that all polling officials would be deployed to the respective polling stations on September 13.

The dzongkhag office has so far not received any election related complaint.
