Compound archers Tandin Dorji, Khendrup, and Younten Jamtsho beat team Indonesia 232- 228 points in the men’s compound team game yesterday. The trio will face team India in the quarterfinals on October 5.

The archers are determined to perform well against India, who remains one of the competent teams in the Games.

However, the men were eliminated from the individual games yesterday.

Compound archer Tandin Dorji won against Thailand’s Uthaimongkol 148-142. However, in the following round, he lost to Malaysia’s Juwaidi 146-147 in the highly contested match.

Recurve archery

The three Bhutanese recurve archers were eliminated from the Games yesterday.

In the men’s recurve individual elimination round, Lam Dorji won against Chaisilp of Thailand 7-1. In four rounds, Lam managed 28-27, 28-25, 28-28, 29-27 points. However, in the next round, Lam Dorji lost to Bommadevara of India 2-6. Lam maintained 28-27, 29-30, 26-30, 27-28 points in the four rounds.

Women’s recurve archers Sonam Dema and Sonam Choden also exited the individual elimination games yesterday. Sonam Dema lost to Altangere of Mongolia 2-6, and Sonam Choden lost to Hamroeva of Uzbekistan 0-6.

Badminton

Bhutanese badminton player Anish Gurung lost against Sri Lanka’s Arachchilag 21-6 and 21-14 points in the men’s singles yesterday. In the same category, Jimba Sangay Lhendup was humbled by Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Panarin 21-3 and 21-3 points.

In the men’s doubles match, the duo lost to team Thailand 21-4, and 21-4 points.
