Khandu Om and Sangay Lhamo

Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa declared two more candidates for Drujeygang Tseza and Gelegphu constituencies on 19th July.

Tashi Penjor, 43, for Drujeygang Tseza constituency has Bachelor’s degree in Language and Culture from Semtokha. He pursued Master’s degree in International Development Studies in Thailand. He also underwent the Young Leadership Course in Japan in 2011, and Executive Management in the Philippines in 2019.

Tashi Penjor has over 18 years of experience in civil service during which he also served as Dzongkhag Tshogdu Secretary of Punakha, Gasa, Sarpang, and Trashigang.

He served as the Disaster Management Officer since 2015 and has combined experience with professional training in Post-disaster Need Assessment, Climate Change and Regional Disaster Coordination in Nepal, India and Sri Lanka as well as the Incident Command System in the United States.

He acted as the interim Kidu Officer for Sarpang Dzongkhag for two years. Additionally, he served as a member of the Secretariat to the Incident Command of Sarpang.

Tashi Penjor from Thangna village, Dagana will replace Jurmi Wangchuk, the incumbent Member of Parliament.

Namgay Tashi, 32, will replace former Information and Communications Minister Karma Donnen Wangi as DNT’s candidate from Gelegphu constituency. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Institute of Chartered and Financial Analyst in India as well as a Diploma in IT Tally and Accounting.

He first worked as an Accounts and Human Resources Officer for three years in a private construction company and then as Accounts and Administrative Officer of Tashi Commercial Corporation.

He served as the Chairperson of Gelephu Chithuen Nazhoen and Vice Chairperson of the Edhi Phendey Tshogpa. He was an instructor for DeSuung Skilling Programme for driving and Super Gojay of North Thimphu. 

He is from Dechen Pelri under Samtenling gewog, Sarpang.
