Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) declared five candidates for constituencies in Tsirang, Thimphu, Haa, Gasa, and Mongar on October 9.

The party declared Nim Dem as the candidate for Bji-Kartsho-Eusu in Haa.

The 28-year-old has a Bachelor of Arts in Bhutanese and Himalayan Studies from the College of Language and Cultural Studies, Trongsa.

She began her professional journey as a teacher at Tshaphel Lower Secondary School for six months, after which she went back to Baytsho and became a full-time farmer.

Pema Wangchuk, 31, will stand as the DPT’s candidate for Khatoed-Laya constituency in Gasa.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, specialised in Finance, from Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab, India.

Since 2017, he has been a tour guide. He also served as secretary of the Laya Incense Factory, a community-based organisation that produces traditional Bhutanese incense for four years. He also served as manager for Highlander Exports for two years.

Sangay Tshering, 33, has been declared as South Thimphu candidate.

He graduated from Royal Thimphu College in 2015. While in college, he participated in an exchange programme with the Center for Global Education at Wheaton College, USA.

He served as a marketing Officer for Phama Trading in Thimphu for two years. After that he worked for Duty Free Outlet.

From 2018 to 2023, Sangay managed and operated a successful construction and trading business whilst supporting Tshelung-Na Dairy Cooperative as its chairperson.

Ugyen Gyeltshen, 37, has been declared as candidate for Mongar.

He obtained a Bachelor’s degree of Arts in Economics with Geography from Sherubtse College, Royal University of Bhutan.

He started his career as a Marketing Assistant for Radio High 92.7FM and The Journalist. Over the years, he worked as promoter of Druk Event Organizing and Marketing Services (Druk Ecoms), Marketing Manager for Bhutan Events, Be Engaged, and promoter of Bhutan OK e-Commerce.

The party declared Sahadev Thapa as their Kilkhorthang-Mendrelgang constituency from Mendrelgang gewog in Tsirang.

The 60-year-old graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (General) in 1986 from Sherubtse College, Kanglung, Trashigang. He pursued higher studies in the Indian Administrative Service programme from 1989 to 1991 at the La Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, India.

Sahadev served as the Dzongkhag Planning Officer (DPO) in Trongsa from September 1991 to March 1997, Planning Officer in Trashigang from 1997 to June 2000, DPO in Trashiyangtse from July 2000 to February 2007, and DPO in Wangduephodrang from February 2007 to January 2018.

He also was a former candidate of Bhutan Kuen-Nyam Party.
