Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) declared its candidates for Paro, Punakha, and Trashigang constituencies, yesterday.

The party declared Zecko as its candidate for Dokar-Shaba constituency in Paro to contest in the fourth parliamentary elections.

The 54-year-old has a Master in Information Technology from King Mongkut University of Information Technology, Thailand.

He has 28 years of work experience in diverse fields ranging from telecom to trade. He started his career as a technical engineer with the then National Youth Association of Bhutan (NYAB) and now called the Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS), in 1990.

He resigned from the civil service as the chief trade officer with the erstwhile Ministry of Economic Affairs before joining the party.

Tenzin Tshewang, 51, will represent Lingmukha-Toedwang constituency in Punakha.

He has a Bachelor in Animal Science and a Diploma in Animal Husbandry from the College of Natural Resources.

He has 28 years of work experience in diverse sectors of animal husbandry, local government, and private sector.

After he resigned from the Civil Service, he worked in the private sector for nine years during which he rose to the position of Senior General Manager in Karma Group of Companies.

The party also declared Karma Chhophel to represent Kanglung-Samkhar-Udzorong constituency.

He has a Master of Science in engineering with majors in water resources and hydraulics from Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, USA. 

He served 29 years as a civil servant, militia officer, corporate employee and recently as an expert for a UN-funded climate change adaptation project.

He started his career with the Royal Insurance Corporation of Bhutan (RICB) as an Assistant Engineer in the Real Estate Division. He underwent six months of intensive military training in Haa and served as a Lieutenant with the Royal Bhutan Army.

After returning from duty in southern Bhutan, he joined the erstwhile Department of Power and was posted to Basochhu Hydropower Project (Stage 1,24 MW) as the General Manager.

He served as the Specialist/Head of the Hydro-met Services Division under the Department of Energy from 2002 to 2010 and then as the Chief Engineer of Dam Complex of the 720MW Mangdechhu Hydropower Project till 2015.

He has also served as the Managing Director of 118MW Tangsibjee Hydro Energy Limited until 2018.

He then served as the National Technical Expert for the Global Environment Facility (GEF)-funded project on Ecosystem-based Adaptation implemented by Thimphu Thromde and coordinated by the Department of Environment and Climate Change.

The party has declared 23 candidates to date.
