DPT’s president, Pema Gyamtsho, reached Trongsa yesterday after cutting his trip to Sarpang short due to roadblocks.
According to the schedule, the DPT president was supposed to move to Trongsa today.“I will conclude my campaign tour here in Bumthang,” he said.
He visited most of the dzongkhags starting from Paro. He visited Samtse, Punakha, Thimphu, Haa, Zhemgang and Wangdue, among other dzongkhags.
The party office said that the president could not visit all the dzongkhags due to time constraint. Those in the priority list for the presidential tours were the dzongkhags that he had not visited as the opposition leader.
The DPT is hoping for a good outcome.“I wish all the parties success in the election,” he said. The party, he said, made self-sufficiency and the national security and sovereignty the main issues for the election.
The party pledges to make the country self-sufficient by 2025.
Most of the party’s pledges revolve around economic development and prosperity for the people. The party maintains that the completion of the ongoing hydropower projects and construction of the new ones are identified as the main ways of achieving the national targets.
