LHAMOIDZINGKHA — A 42-year-old mother and her five-year-old son were struck by a falling tree at around 8.15am yesterday, resulting in their tragic deaths.

The accident occurred as the mother and son were on their way to the Early Childhood Care and Development Centre (ECCD) near drungkhag court.

The 18-year-old daughter of the deceased mother, who was set to begin her first day of work, is now grappling with the loss of her loved ones.

The daughter, having completed her 12th-grade, had recently secured employment in one of the hotels in Paro and was residing with her cousin sister.

Despite the presence of rain, Lieutenant Tshewang Dorji, the officer commanding (OC) of Lhamoidzingkha police station, confirmed that no severe wind was recorded at the time of the accident.

The deceased mother had been employed with the National Work Force (NWF) for the past one and a half years. The bodies were handed over to the deceased’s sister, who also works at NWF.
