Punakha – A woman in her 20s has alleged that her father sexually abused her since she was 14.

Punakha police arrested and detained the man after the woman’s mother reported the alleged crime to the police this  week after learning about it. The 42-year-old accused from Wangdue was arrested on the same day.

Punakha hospital after carrying out a pregnancy test, declared that she was not pregnant.

It is alleged that the father had sexually abused her for six years and threatened her not to tell anyone about it.

The woman is a school dropout.

Kuensel also learned that the incident began in 2017 in the absence of her mother.

The last sexual abuse took place when the accused was drunk two months ago before her mother discovered the alleged abuse.

Sources said that the accused had confessed to the crime and will be charged with rape of a child above 12 years and incest.
