Banking: In order to enhance customer service and easy access in the service delivery, the Royal Insurance Corporation of Bhutan Limited (RICBL) opened three new offices: a branch office at Tsimasham in Chhukha and two extension offices at Motithang in Thimphu and Gyalpoizhing in Mongar today.

The facilities will include standard services of payments, renewals, loan appraisals, inspections, underwriting and annuity services as well as information counters for various products and services.

According to a press release from RICBL, the opening of the three new offices will ease congestion at the head office in Thimphu.

Meanwhile, the Bank of Bhutan Limited (BOBL) upgraded their Babesa extension branch in Thimphu yesterday to a full-fledged branch office.

According to sources from BoBL, the branch office will now offer full banking services to its customers.

The office will now accept both demand draft and time deposits including withdrawals with no limit. As an extension branch, the withdrawal was limited to Nu 100,000 before.

“Opening of new accounts, issuance of drafts, banker’s cheque, INR remittance and alternative delivery channel services such as M-BOB, Internet Banking and cards will all be available from the branch office,” a source said. “Foreign currency exchange and application of loans will also be offered at the office.”

BoB today has a network of 29 branches and 18 extension counters. The bank also has the largest network of 82 ATMs spread across the country.
