Office of Attorney General has charged five individuals, including a woman with purchase and sell of four antique Kuthangs from a private Lhakhang in Kuengarabten.

The case surfaced after Pema Tshering reported to the Royal Bhutan Police about missing of the kuthangs from Pelchu goenpa.

Later, in his statement, he submitted that the kuthang of Sangayyoedpamey was found and the other four kuthangs were missing.

The Kuthangs of Guru, Lhachoe, Chenreyzig, and Namsey were missing.

During the investigation, it was found that the woman from Kuengarabten had sold all the four Kuthangs.

The 63-year-old woman from Kuengarabten is charged with the illegal sale of antique in October 2018.

She had sold four kuthangs of Pelchugoenpa at Nu 170,000.

A 30-year-old man from Kuengarabten is charged with aiding and abetting. He had helped to send the picture of the Kuthangs through his WeChat account. He was paid Nu 35,000 commission for that.

A 30-year-old man from Chhoekhor, Bumthang is charged with illegal purchase and sell of antique kuthangs. In 2018, he bought four Kuthangs of Pelchugoenpa at Nu 17,0000 and sold to a man from Haa at Nu 410,000.

A 35-year-old man from Thimphu is charged with illegal purchase and sell of antique Kuthang. For acting as a go-between, he was paid Nu 60,000 commission.

A 35-year-old man from Haa faces two charges—illegal purchase and sell of antique, and sell of antique outside the country.

The hearing was conducted through video conference at Trongsa dzongkhag court.
