A Gelephu thrompon contestant for 2016 thromde elections has declared his intent to contest for the upcoming National Council (NC) elections.
Tshering Norbu worked as an information, communications and technology (ICT) officer in Zhemgang after graduating from Sherubtse College, Kanglung, in 2007. He then joined his brothers’ construction company in Gelephu.
He said he is participating in the NC elections to reaffirm and rededicate his service to the country and people. “I believe we have a moral responsibility to contribute to nation building for future generations,” he said.
According to a press release he sent on December 11, he claims that his leadership traits are governed by the principles of honesty, morality, ethics, integrity, and commitment.
Claiming that he is aware of both local and national issues, Tshering Norbu said the National Council and National Assembly should function for the common interest of the country and its people. “Cross-border relationship has to be strengthened to promote peace, security, and prosperity.”
He said the grassroots level should be more connected and informed on the overall picture of national issues so that people are equally concerned about nation building. “I see Sarpang becoming a regional economic or commercial hub owing to its strategic location, vastness, agricultural potential, connectivity, and special economic zone.”
The former contestant from Gelephu thromde said that legislation on long-term tourism benefits, agriculture and public service delivery should be framed to cope with changing times.
He said that his experience and expertise in ICT could be used to improve public service delivery by making it an ICT based society.
