His Majesty The King yesterday conferred red scarf to Karma Yonten, and granted promotions to 17 officers from the RBA, RBP, and RBG. His Majesty also granted dhar to the Gup of Nahi gewog, and appointed a new Zimpon Wogma.

Dasho Karma Yonten heads the Office of Performance Management at His Majesty’s Secretariat. Prior to his current appointment, he was Chief Executive Officer of Druk Holding and Investments.

His Majesty The King, as Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, granted promotions to 10 officers of the Royal Bhutan Army, an officer of the Royal Body Guards, and six officers of the Royal Bhutan Police. The officers were promoted from the rank of Lt. Colonel to the rank of Colonel.

Kaka, who was serving as the Chief Administration Officer at His Majesty’s Secretariat, was appointed Zimpon Wongma (Deputy Chamberlain). Prior to his deputation to HMS, he was working as Deputy Chief Planning Officer at the Gross National Happiness Commission.

Kinley Gyeltshen, the newly elected Gup of Nahi gewog in Wangduephodrang received dhar from His Majesty The King at the Tashichhodzong today. Kinley Gyeltshen was elected Gup of Nahi gewog in a bye-election conducted on July 17 this year, to fill a post vacated by the resignation of the incumbent gup. In recognition of the importance of local government for the welfare of the people, His Majesty The King has personally granted dhar to gups.
