His Majesty The King graced the Attestation Parade of the 78th Batch Male Recruits and the 2nd Batch Female Recruits of the Royal Bhutan Army, at Tencholing in Wangduephodrang yesterday.

The 151 men and 149 women who have completed the yearlong training will now join the Royal Bhutan Army and take up posts across the country.

In an Address to the recruits, His Majesty The King said that security has many dimensions in the 21st century- in addition to physical security of borders, we have to take into account economic security, cyber security, security of food and shelter, and security against climate-change related and natural disasters, just to name a few. His Majesty said that our approach to security must be preemptive and proactive, rather than reactive.
