Member of Parliament Kuenga Loday from Khamdang-Ramjar constituency, Trashiyangtse has tendered his resignation to the Speaker on  November 15 and the Speaker accepted it on the same day. 

The relieving order has been handed over to Kuenga Loday yesterday over a simple ceremony in the presence of the Cabinet Ministers, Leader of the Opposition, Members of the National Assembly, officials of the National Assembly Secretariat. 

Kuenga Loday served as the Member of Parliament for three years. 

“The National Assembly of Bhutan expresses deep regret for the early resignation,” a press release from the NA stated. 

Upon the acceptance of the resignation by the Speaker, the seat of the Khamdang-Ramjar constituency has been declared vacant. The Speaker has issued a writ to the Election Commission of Bhutan to fill the vacancy.

The MP was sentenced to five years in prison by the Trashiyangtse dzongkhag court on August 14 this year for illegal construction of a road in a restricted area. The court allowed him to pay thrimthue in lieu of their prison terms.
