The candidate from Thimphu’s Ge-nyen Gewog, Leki Tshering has been elected to represent Thimphu in the National Council.

Leki Tshering received 4,102 votes to win the seat. The 48-year-old won 951 via postal ballot and 3,151 EVM votes.

Nima Gyaltshen from Chang Gewog secured 3,046 votes—744  postal ballot and 2,302 EVM votes.




Leki Tshering expressed his gratitude to the voters who trusted and supported him and pledged to represent them well in Parliament.




Thimphu had 27 polling stations. Out of the 16,429 registered voters, only 7,148 cast their vote. Thirteen postal ballots got rejected.

Leki Tshering is a former teacher.
