Police in Dagana arrested a 57-year-old man who fled after allegedly stabbing the husband of his ex-wife and burning their hut in Dagana on Monday, June 12. 

The incident occurred in Tashithang chiwog, Gesarling gewog. 

The victim was stabbed more than four times when he was going to the toilet outside his hut. “The cuts are so severe that it needed at least 17 stitches,” the victim’s son said. 

The victim is recovering at the Gelephu regional hospital. 

The victim’s son told Kuensel that the incident occurred at midnight over a personal issue between the two men. The suspect is believed to be the former husband of the victim’s third wife. 

According to the son, the victim lives in a hut a few meters above their house separately with his new wife.

The tshogpa called the son about the incident. When the victim’s family took him to the hospital, the suspect returned and allegedly set the house on fire.

The couple lost all their belongings in the fire. 

Officer in command of Dagepela police said the culprit is from Trashiyangtse.
