A 40-year-old man from Paro is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the National Referral Hospital in Thimphu after his girlfriend allegedly stabbed him in the neck with a knife, severing a part of his carotid artery.

The incident happened during a fight between the couple on the afternoon of July 3. 

Sources say that the suspect, 32, is expecting a child and the couple were in an extramarital affair. The victim, a businessman in Paro, is a married man. 

The suspect is in police custody. An official from the Paro Police said that the severity of the case will be decided by the victim’s state of health.
